Year 10 - 2021
A Home for More Than One
In November 2021, Team Holland found themselves standing in front of a quiet little house that was full of big love.
Inside lived a special woman—kind, steady, and brave. She had recently opened her heart and her home to two young children in the foster care system. It was a decision rooted in compassion, made not out of convenience, but out of deep conviction. She didn’t have everything, but she gave everything she had.
What she didn’t expect was for Team Holland to show up for her.
When her home was chosen for that year’s project, she was speechless. But this November, her love was going to be met with love.
The work began quickly. The exterior of the house was given a fresh coat of paint—bright, bold, and welcoming. A brand-new deck was built where the old one had been. Volunteers fenced in the backyard so the kids could run and play freely and safely. And then, the finishing touch—a beautiful playset, handcrafted with joy, complete with swings and a slide, waiting for little feet and big imaginations.
But the real gift wasn’t the work. It was the community.
Strangers became friends. Laughter echoed in the driveway. The kids played while saws buzzed and paintbrushes danced. And through it all, the woman who had quietly carried so much on her own finally got to rest—wrapped in the care of others.
It wasn’t just a house makeover. It was an affirmation: you are seen, you are supported, and you are not alone.
“Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me.” — Mark 9:37 (NIV)
That November, she welcomed two children.
And Team Holland? They helped build a home where love could grow.
