Year 9 - 2020
Love in the Little Things
The year the world shut down, Team Holland opened up in a new way.
It was 2020, and the pandemic brought everything to a halt—schools, churches, gatherings, even Team Holland’s annual November project. For the first time since its beginning, the idea of bringing dozens of volunteers together under one roof just wasn’t possible.
But grief didn’t pause.
Hardship didn’t pause.
Needs didn’t pause.
So neither did Team Holland.
Instead of one big project, the team said, “What if we did twenty small ones?”
And just like that, a new kind of miracle unfolded.
They delivered a brand-new medical recliner to someone, offering comfort and filling a huge need. Groceries were purchased and delivered to a family facing financial need. Yardwork was done for neighbors who needed assistance. A ramp was built for a home where medical needs had changed overnight—giving freedom and safety where there had been fear and limitation. Christmas lights were hung and a yard decorated for a family who had lost their husband and father earlier that year, gently bringing joy into a home still heavy with grief.
Some projects took an hour. Others took a weekend. But every single one was covered in the same heart: GIVE. LOVE. SERVE.
No crowds. No spotlight. Just quiet, powerful acts of kindness.
And in the middle of uncertainty, Team Holland reminded everyone that you don’t have to do something big to make a big difference.
Sometimes the smallest projects carry the deepest impact.
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
That year, Team Holland didn’t build just one thing.
They built hope, again and again, one small miracle at a time.
