Year 4 - 2015

A Refresh of the Hear

The house had grown quiet in the months following his passing.

What was once filled with the laughter of a family now echoed with a silence too heavy for words. Grief hung in the corners of every room—on the scuffed floors, the faded walls, and the weary expressions of a mother and her children trying to find their way through heartbreak.

That’s when Team Holland stepped in.

They didn’t come with grand promises. They came with brushes, paint cans, flooring tiles, and most importantly—hearts full of compassion. They came not to erase the pain, but to sit with it, honor it, and gently help carry the weight of it.

Cindy Holland, with her steady grace, knew all too well the ache this family felt. In honor of her late husband, Matt, she and Team Holland had made it their mission to be present where love and help were needed most.

The project was called a “refresh,” but it became so much more.

Walls were repainted in soft, warm colors that brought a new light into the home. Fresh flooring covered old scars and softened each step. But beyond the physical transformation, it was the love poured into every detail that brought healing—friends listening, children laughing again, shared meals, and quiet prayers whispered between paint strokes.

By the end of the weekend, the home felt different. Not because it was newly renovated, but because it had been wrapped in kindness. It had been filled with people who showed up not just to work—but to love.

This wasn't the end of the family's grief. But it was the next step. A turning point. A reminder that joy could still find its way in.

“He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair…” — Isaiah 61:3 (NLT)

The room was quiet for a moment, then filled with something new.

Hope.
